Gulf Province is one of the five provinces of the Southern Region of Papua New Guinea. Gulf is home to some of the vast areas of untouched tropical forests. The coastal area is littered with swamp lands which provides a suitable environment for crocodiles. In 2009, large reserves of natural gas was found in the hinterlands of Gulf Province by InterOil, a Canadian oil and gas company. A Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) processing plant is planned for completion by 2012 and first ship of LNG gas in 2013. This will be the second LNG plant for Papua New Guinea apart from the ExxonMobil plant in Port Moresby. Photos below show places and landscapes of Gulf Province.
