Culture and Traditions of West Sepik Province

West Sepik Province is one of the four provinces of the Momase Region of Papua New Guinea. The West Sepik people culture, like their neighbours from East Sepik Province is centered around the magic of the Sepik River.

The Sepiks as is often referred to both West and East Sepik people are some of the artistic people in Papua New Guinea when it comes to the art of carving. One of the icons of the Sepiks is the Crocodile which plays an important role in their culture, traditions, arts and folklore.

The West Sepik people can be seen performing and displaying their cultures and traditions in various Cultural Shows and Festivals celebrated throughout Papua New Guinea. Photos below show cultures and traditions of the people of West Sepik Province.
