| Culture and Traditions of Western Highlands Province |

Western Highlands Province is one of the seven provinces of the Highlands Region of Papua New Guinea. The people of Western Highlands, like the rest of the Highlanders of Papua New Guinea have unique body paintings made from various sources such as oil from plants, animals (such as pig's oil), mud and clay. Their face painting comprise of verticle white lines down the face with mixture of other colors. Western Highlands men love their beards and normally paint their beards to blend in with whatever colors they have chosen for the face painting. Their dance and songs also assemble that of war cries. Western Highlands people can be seen performing in various Cultural Shows and Festivals celebrated throughout Papua New Guinea.
