| Maladina Amendments Protest in May 2010 |
|
In May 2010, the citizens of Papua New Guinea living in Port Moresby took to the streets of Port Moresby to protect against a bill sponsored by Hon. Moses Maladina. The protest march was organised by none other than Noel Anjo, the outspoken NGO activist with the support of Transparency International of Papua New Guinea. The bill, unofficialy dubbed the "Maladina Amendments" by the public was supposedly designed to give Parliament power over Ombudsman Commission. Pictures below show the march by the public to parliament to present a petition to the government to remove the bill. The petition was signed by more than 20,000 people all over Papua New Guinea.
